This article features a standard Model C nosegear installation.
Nosegear installation
The standard steering rod tends to break at the threads. One fix is to weld reinforcing steel strips over this area.
Thin slices of plastic tubing used as bushings on either side of the rod ends make for smooth operation.
Note the angle of the forward triangular tabs for the springs Be sure to lubricate the spring ends with white lithium grease upon installation and at each annual.
Nosewheel installation
To prevent the nosegear springs from coming off their clips, install 1/8" wheel collars for radio controlled aircraft from a hobby shop.
